In the evening of Dec. 13, 2021, Jefry Banegas Rodriguez, 22, became violent during an argument with his acquaintance near Dale Boulevard and Birchdale Avenue, according to the Prince William County Police Department.

Banegas Rodriguez was driving with the victim and prevented her from leaving his car, before he pulled her hair and hit her, authorities reported.

When the victim was able to get out of the car, Banegas Rodriguez forced her to get back in, officials said.

The victim was eventually able to get away from the suspect and the police were contacted, law enforcement said.

As officers investigated this incident, they learned that Banegas Rodriguez sent threatening messages to the victim three days prior, reports said.

On Oct. 3, 2022, Banegas Rodriguez was charged with two counts of abduction, two counts of domestic assault and battery, one count of threats to harm, and one count of driving on a revoked driver’s license, police reported.

He had a pending court date and no bond information was available.
